Last-chance Writing Prompt #6

We all know the saying, “You are what you eat” but beyond that cheeseburger sittin’ pretty in your colon, what does your food say about you and your identity, or a place’s identity?

PROMPT:

For this prompt, consider the interaction between food, culture, and identity. While we’d be interested in stories about family recipes, try to push yourself beyond the obvious. How do recipes for regionally prominent dishes reflect the cultural status of the area? Where does history come into play? As this is fiction, what does it mean to deconstruct all of this? Re-imagine Philadelphia without Italian American cuisine, or South Carolina without perloo. Use your senses for this prompt.

Did you write something fantastic? Submit it to us! Our contest closes July 1st!
