Prompt #15

The month of January is named after the Roman God Janus, who is usually depicted with two heads facing in opposite directions. One looks back to the previous year, and one looks forward into the future.

PROMPT:
Using Janus as a guide, write about a character with one foot in the past and one foot in the future. Perhaps he is planning a reunion with someone and must relive their most recent encounter. Maybe he is anxious about a test that he has to take and is doing his best to remember everything he’s learned. Whatever it is, make sure to use specific details! What makes thinking about the past different from thinking about the future? What techniques can you use to showcase these differences?
