Ohio Portrait no. 500

My beloved sister bought a dollar-coin-sized turtle from a mall kiosk. The salesman pulled the creature out from a drawer under the display; the box was teeming with turtles, hermit crabs, and other forms of squirming life persistently being denied light.
She kept the turtle in a good-sized aquarium in her room and fed him a smelly paste resembling cat food. I think his name was Zip. One day she went to pick him up and his head came clean off.
