How I Write – Anton Rose
When/how/where do you write?
Usually at home, at my desk, on my laptop (photo attached). I’ve made various attempts to develop a regular writing schedule, but with little success, so it really depends on how I’m feeling. In general, the more I read, the more I’m able to write, but it can be difficult fitting it all in around a full-time job and other commitments.
Do you eat while you write? If so, what?
Not usually, but I almost always have a cup of tea, or a glass of something stronger if I’m writing at night.
Do you play music while you write? If so, what?
I like listening to music when writing, but generally not anything with lyrics, as they distract me. I have a big writing playlist on my ipod, but my writing go tos are post-rock bands like Explosions in the Sky and Godspeed You! Black Emperor, or a little bit of Miles Davis.
What are you reading right now?
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. I’m a hundred pages in and enjoying it a lot so far; it’s full of charm and intrigue, with a darker historical undercurrent.
