Founded in 2006 and closed in December 2016, NANO Fiction (Print ISSN 1935-844X; Digital ISSN 2160-939X) was a non-profit literary journal that sought to cultivate the genre of flash fiction by creating opportunities for emerging writers to achieve national recognition through our website, print publication, and educational events.
As part of our educational mission, NANO Fiction has made its published archive available online starting January 2nd, 2017.
Stories previously published in our print issues will post one-per-day five days a week beginning with Volume 1 Number 1 and ending with our final issue, Volume 10 Number 1. Ebooks will still be available for purchase in both ePub and PDF format on our website and Google Play and in Kindle format on Amazon.com.
Stories will be organized by issue as well as tagged with literary attributes for easy searching and implementation in classroom settings.
We hope you’ll enjoy reading and rereading these works as much as we have.

Kirby Johnson is the founding editor of NANO Fiction and the most recent former editor of Black Warrior Review. Her work has appeared in such places as the Tulane Review, Hobart, and The Rumpus. She blogs about never leaving the house at manichouse.net.
Elizabeth Wade
Managing Editor
Elizabeth Wade holds degrees from Davidson College and the University of Alabama. Her writing has appeared in journals such as Kenyon Review Online, AGNI, and The Rumpus. She lives on the East Coast and teaches literature and writing courses at the University of Mary Washington.
Sophie Rosenblum

Sophie Rosenblum has taught at Rice University, the University of Houston, and Florida State University. Her fiction appears or is forthcoming in The Iowa Review, New Letters, and American Short Fiction.
Andrea Trninic

Andrea Trninic works in graphic design, front-end web development and illustration in Houston, Texas. She is not good at writing about herself and loves dogs, especially one named June.
Benjamin Voigt
Web Developer
Benjamin Voigt grew up in upstate New York, got his MFA in creative writing in Tuscaloosa, and now teaches in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he is a visiting assistant professor of English at Macalester College. He writes poems, and writes about poems for Publisher's Weekly and the Poetry Foundation.
