Prompt #47 — Write Like Benjamin King

In, “Astronauts under the Sea Dance” (view here), King exposes the strangeness of how people mourn or pay homage to others after times of crisis or disaster. This is the type of piece that can be inspired by an event the writer took part in or from an occasion that is completely imagined.

PROMPT

Choose an event that happened before your time, describe the event briefly, and then have a group of characters react. This event can be a major event in history, or something smaller—something your readers may have less knowledge about, so that you may really manipulate your details to create a rich story.
