Celebrate National Short Story Month!

The editors of NANO Fiction spend a lot of time thinking about the flash form. We believe it’s not only our business to publish a semi-annual journal, but to engage with the contemporary field of flash fiction as well. So when a special occasion like National Short Story Month comes around, we can’t think of a better way to engage our readers, and the genre, than to get everyone writing flash!

Celebrate National Short Story Month in a big way this year by stopping by the website each day for a new writing prompt—yep, that’s right: with assistance from the Tuscaloosa Arts Council, we’ll be posting 31 writing prompts and many will be linked to some of our favorite stories published in NANO Fiction.

Then, to cap off the month, we will be re-releasing the prompts along with their linked stories with a dozen never-before-seen new prompts in an anthology. The anthology will be free to educators with an .edu email address (just shoot us an email with your request) and only ten bucks to our beautiful regular readers.

Pre-order your anthology here and check out the first prompt and story here!
